BIOGRAPHY

Cirex is the artistic moniker of Eric Ortiz, a Puerto Rican-American musician, multi-instrumentalist, and producer known for his aggressive fusion of electronic music with metal, industrial, and cinematic influences. Born on December 14, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York, Ortiz moved to Puerto Rico during the 1980s, where his passion for music began to take shape. Initially performing as a bassist and guitarist, Ortiz was a member of the band Neuttro between 2003 and 2007. Following the group’s dissolution, he launched his solo project in 2009 under the name “Cirex”—a stylized version of his first name spelled backward with an "X" representing the Christian cross. That same year, he released his debut album The Lab, which he composed, performed, and produced independently. The album was mastered by Wil Martin, vocalist of the band Earshot. Cirex quickly gained recognition for his genre-blending sound, combining elements of drum and bass, dubstep, and heavy guitar riffs with dark, cinematic atmospheres. His work has been featured in films, most notably with a track included in the 2008 action thriller Taken. Over the years, Cirex has collaborated with various notable artists, including Eduardo Paniagua of the Puerto Rican metal band Puya, New York hardcore rapper Danny Diablo, and the alternative rock group Hail Sagan. His music continues to evolve while staying rooted in a distinct blend of digital aggression and live instrumentation. Outside of music, Ortiz is also active in the visual arts, contributing as a graphic artist to multiple creative projects. He remains a dynamic presence in the underground music scene, consistently releasing new material and engaging fans through platforms such as Bandcamp, YouTube, and his official website.(Bio by DJ Geralda)

HIP HOP Remixes

I love to remix songs. Mostly I create hip hop/rap beats and get deep.
